[[underline]] Nov 12 [[/underline]] Today is [[red underline]] annual reunion [[/red underline]] and annual report of surviving members of [[red underline]] U.S. Naval Consulting board [[/red underline]]. We were to visit [[red underline]] Thomas A. Edison [[/red underline]] as usually in his laboratory, but received word this morning [[red underline]] he is ill in bed with stomach trouble [[/red underline]] caused many years ago by a too great enthusiasm of X-ray treatment thru one of his friends.
Spent afternoon with Dr. W.R [[strikethrough]] Wh Wit [[/strikethrough]] [[red underlined]] Whitney, [[/red underline]] head of Research Lab of General Electric Is just back from a two months vacation in the woods and mountains of Europe where he went to take a much needed rest far away from laboratories and Universities. Seems in excellent condition and the [[red underlined]] same dear [[strikethrough]] Whitney [[/strikethrough]] [[red underline]] Whitney [[red underline]] as I knew him. A long pleasant

talk at University club until it was time to [[red underline]] join our friends [[/red underline]] of U.S. Naval Consulting Board for supper at Country club. [[red underline]] Saunders absent [[/red underline]] in India. [[red underline]] Emmet [[/red underline]] is in the [[red underline]] South. [[/red underline]] Brion [[red underline]] Arnold [[/red underline]] and Hunt who is in [[red underline]] California also absent. Riker and Sperry died [[/red underline]] during the year [[red underline]] All rose in silence in honor [[/red underline]] of the death. Major [[red underline]] Scott, Col. Mushon, Whitney, Robins, Addicks, Sellers, Miller, Reese, Hutchinson, [[/red underline]] former assistant to Edison. [[red underline]] Whitney and myself as delegate from Secretary of the Navy (Adams) was Captain Marquardt at present director of the Naval Research Laboratory [[/red underline]] and now about to return to sea service gave interesting talk [[red underline]] describing [[/red underline]] the work of the [[red underline]] laboratory, [[/red underline]] followed by a more detailed talk on the technical side by Commander ? ?, manager of the Laboratory
