Intensely enjoyable then we all dispersed and I returned to New York where I arrived at 2:45P.M. Dick called for me at University Club.
[[underline]] Oct. 25 ^[[Sunday]] [[/underline]] Then in Yonkers preparing [[red underline]] my talk for the Chemical Engineers in Columbia coming Tuesday. [[/red underline]] Zeeryk and his wife and Mrs. Baskerville and Geo Roll and Nina here for supper.
[[underline]] Oct. 26. [[/underline]] Finally got [[red underline]] letter from Rachel [[/red underline]] answering my inquiry concerning van Triglem. Information confirms my opinion of that scandal. Telegraphed her back that I would follower her advice and send no money but would send funds to [[red underline]] Rachel [[/red underline]] so that she may bring [[red underline]] food and clothes for his children [[/red underline]]

after long discussions with George, Rossi Redman, Sandford Brown & Swan all agreed to send a letter to each contract man, notifying him 4 months in advance that on March 1 at our option [[underline]] we may [[/underline]] ^[[have to]] decide to cut his salary 10% following same course as already adopted by such large companies as Eastman, Dupont, Aluminum Co. of America etc. with their research staff.
Dr [[red underline]] Weger [[/red underline]] here ^[[on inspection visit]] from Germany since Friday. Spent most of morning with him talking over matters concerning Bakelite Gesellschaft and Bakelite Corporation. - Then took him for luncheon at University Club A very streneous day.
