to put this in the hands of Dillon's men who might commit indiscretions; harmful to us in connection with the many ramified connection Dillon or his men have with other concerns, some of them banks or competitors. - It seems now very likely that the [[red underline]] beginning with G.E. [[/red underline]] which fell thru was only an [[red underline]] adroit maneuver of Dillon [/red underline]] to take us in tow in hope of [[strikethrough]] fin [[/strikethrough]] trying other prospects. [[red underline]] He just led us to one where we need least his aid. But George seems determined that we must do something so as to [[strikethrough]] scrap [[/strikethrough]] fire or eliminate many men etc. [[/red underline]] etc. I fear [[red underline]] George may find out after a few years that Sanford Brown or some other may gradually succeed in crowding him [[/red underline]] out. and

[[red underline]] that George may be looking [[/red underline]] for another job and thus gradually drift in "Fields that look green, when far away". [[red underline]] This thought adds enormously to my responsibilities. The trouble with George is that some people easily influence him and that he underrates the advice and experience of his father, who committed himself enough blunders before and at the age of George, to be on his guard. [[/red underline]]
[[underline]] March 12 [[/underline]] George phoned from Scarsdale 8:30 AM. to get figures as to proposition of [[red underline]] Union Carbide in 1930 [[/red underline]] which I gave him. Also read him my telegram that Dillon letter not yet received. Told him also I would not budge [[red underline]] until I had the exact terms at which Dillon was to do the work and [[/red underline]] specify his work. He thinks [[red underline]] Dillon [[/red underline]]
