The damned fool, must have been drunk or so swept away by his vanity to forget himself to such an extent. I was furious and handled him very severely, telling him: "I had long ago made up my mind that he was a d_d fool but never could imagine such a contemptible fool etc", which of course made him angry.

That his men should be allowed to inspect our books etc. To which I refused to let him see out books but if a reputable firm like Price-Waterhouse & Co, chartered English accounts would pledge and bond themselves not to divulge any particulars without our consent we were willing to let them examine our books and thus determine whether our price was fair or not.
