Today had his letter. No damage to the house or harbor. Large pitocolobian near El Jardin [[red underline]] wall uprooted [[/red underline]] also the large silk cotton tree (Bombyx) near cottage and some fruit trees Rainfall over 10" in 24 hours! Wind force 32-50 miles but not of hurricane proportions.
[[underline]] Sept 2. [[/underline]] Excessively hot day and very sultry.
[[underline]] Sept 3. [[/underline]] Got 2 boxes of avocadoes which have been blown of the trees also several [[red underline]] Akees [[/red underline]]. Weather cooler. Here all day writing and studying at Snug Rock. 
Dick away till Tuesday morning to visit his mother. Like usually I let the cook and chambermaid go after luncheon and prepare myself a very [[red underline]] simple supper [[/red underline]] most of the time a bunch of grapes or an avocado, or both.

This [[red underline]] makes my week ends very reposeful [[/red underline]] and enables me to concentrate my mind upon my work. I am never disturbed by visitors [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] go to bed at 8 P.M. Read until 9 or 10 sleep about 5 or 6 hours and in the early morning take up my work again.
This afternoon arrived another box of [[red underline]] avocadoes [[/red underline]], also over a dozen of Ripe [[red underline]] Akees [[/red underline]] which have been shaken off by the storm. I put them on ice. These are the first [[strikethrough]] Akees [[/srikethrough]] of our Akees ever shipped North.
[[underline]] Sept. 4 [[/underline]]
(Sunday). The long period of drought which shrivelled lawns and trees was broken last night by a rainfall.
[[underline]] Sept. 5. [[/underline]] Labor day. Hot and sultry all day at "Snug Rock".

Another [[red underline]] interview  with Dr Taylor [[/red underline] at office. Told him that [[red underline]] everybody desires [[/red underline]] he should leave since he had alienated their sympathies by [[red underline]] denouncing the corporation to others, [[/red underline]], telling them to get ready to be treated in the same way. - [[strikethrough]] Tol [[/strikethrough]] I told him that in our present forced circumstances [[red underline]] he is the only man who refused to meet us half way, [[/red underline]] and wants [[strikethrough]] to make [[/strikethrough]] us to make an exception for himself. How his salary was and is now much higher than that of many who occupy positions of great usefulness and incurring greater responsibilities. How since his utterances it becomes to have a dissatisfied man in our employ. That we wanted to reorganise the physical department into what it was always meant to be a [[red underline]] testing [[/red underline]] department. That at present it was organised out of proportion to
