[[underline]] December 27. [[/underline]] My cold about same as yesterday, but went to Dr. Fuller the dentist at 9 A.M. to have one gold crown put on lower molar. - Then back home and took a restful day to nurse my cold. Rainy weather.
[[underline]] December 28. [[/underline]] Feel somewhat better altho coughing, and general tiredness. Dense fog envelops the garden. George left this morning for Adirondacks with Dickie, Brooksie and Celine Roll
Have received a large pack of letters and pending patent applications from office to study here. But am rather at a disadvantage to give this my best thoughts. Rain.
[[underline]] December 29. [[/underline]] Reviewed Foreign pending [[red underline]] patent applications. [[/red underline]] There are still about [[red underline]] 50 cases [[/red underline]] pending. I have reduced this from the former absurd number of over 400 Foreign applications permitted to be filed by the Operating Committee without even submitting me for approval during former years when [[red underline]] Redman [[/red underline]] alone decide what and where to file and the Operating Committee simply put its O.K. on his decisions [[red underline]] Most of the patents are worthless [[/red underline]] [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] by themselves others are taken in countries where there is little if any hope of commercial applications, and we have been all along [[red underline]] paying for this! [[/red underline]]

[[underline]] Dec 31 [[/underline]] Altho' feel much better, decided not to expose myself to the fatigue of New Years Eve celebrations at Century Club. Celine had invited Nina and Cornelia and the Wunderlich's for supper here, under the belief I was to spend the evening at the Century. - So her arrangements were changed to meet at [[red underline]] Cornelia's [[/red underline]] who is kept at home on account of her dislocated shoulder. - So I had a quiet evening alone [[strikethrough]] listeni [[/strikethrough]] reading and listening to the Radio.
