[[/underline]] Mrs. [[red underline]] Howard & her husband [[/red underline]] gave a dinner aboard the "Alice" to the [[red underline]] Fairchilds [[/red underline]] and Dr. [[red underline]] Gilbert Grosvenor [[/red underline]] and his wife. I excused myself as usually to [[strikethrough]] join [[/strikethrough]] the dinner but went aboard at 8 P.M. to have a chat. [[strikethrough]] Dr. Gros [[/strikethrough]] Very interesting chat about Professor [[red underline]] Piccard [[/red underline]] and his lecture before National Geographic Society etc.
The [[red underline]] Grosvenors are flying away [[/red underline]] tomorrow on a round trip over Central America the East and the West Coast of [[red underline]] South America. [[/red underline]]

[[underline]] Jan 27. [[/underline]] [[red underline]] George [[/red underline]] wrote me a letter [[red underline]] wants to abandon Pantone [[/red underline]] and farm it out on licenses. Wired him long day letter for further details and to inquire whether he has obtained any answer for Trist in how far the latter process is being worked regularly and successfully in England and to what an extent and then verify his statements by sending Shrimpe over. Useless to go and try to get royalties by farming out the process to printers if we ourselves are unsuccessful.

[[red underline]] George [[/red underline]] wrote me a long letter giving excellent arguments why we should [[red underline]] not go [[/red underline]] ourselves in the manufacture of [[red underline]] Bakelite tiles & shingles [[/red underline]] by Harsberger process. He brilliantly overcame all my arguments. I felt pleased to wire him that I am convinced by the value of his arguments and we should proceed accordingly. - I [[red underline]] feel like a happy father to see my son at his best [[/red underline]]
Visit of Dr & Mrs. Hoge (D.D) in company with Dr. [[red underline]] Hutchison [[/red underline]] & his wife. Two very fine looking citizens. Dr Hoge is [[strikethrough]] retired [[/strikethrough]] Emeritus Minister of Pee Wee Valley. They all enjoyed my grape fruit wine. Also visit of the [[red underline]] Livermores.
