Started [[red underline]] winemaking from 240 grapefruit: [[/red underline]] [[strikethrough]] Or [[/strikethrough]] Squeezed with new squeezing machine which does not tear the pulp. I find that medium sized grapefruit give 165 c.c. of juice
Used ordinary proportions of 100 parts juice 30 parts sugar dissolved in 20 parts lukewarm water all this to be added gradually. Started in 2 crocks each one containing about 4½ gallons of juice.

Fermentation started very slowly and after 3 days noticed one crock had surface of liquid covered with a white skin which looked like "Mother of vinegar" which I removed Hastened fermentation by adding some beer yeast, my wine yeast seemed to have become inactive

[[red underline]] Blacks' [[/red underline]] place adjacent to mine has finally been sold for [[red underline]] 12000$ to Mr. Norwood Calvert [[/red underline]]. - It was offered to me for [[red underline]] $10000 [[/red underline]] last month by Mr. Babbage (executor of the Estate) thru Mr. Hays. - I am told [[red underline]] Black paid $100000 for it in 1916. - [[/red underline]] Whatever he paid, the taxes, wages & maintenance since that time amount to such a sum of money that even after deducting the sales [[strikethrough]] place [[/strikethrough]] price of 12000$.
