Wrote letters all morning. Celine at 4 P.M at tea party of [[red underline]] Judge & Mrs. Ritter [[/red underline]] while I went to tea party of Mr Cutler, where all the [[red underline]] Hookers [[/red underline]] are to be. - Very pleasant meeting, simple light supper and good company [[red underline]] Cutler [[/red underline]] has a very [[red underline]] well laid out [[/red underline]] garden and some interesting plants.

Mr. [[red underline]] Hodenpyl [[/red underline]] whose wife was at the Celine Luncheon invited me and Mr. [[red underline]] Stone of Stone and Webster [[/red underline]] for a luncheon at his home. A very agreable and interesting luncheon and most interesting conversation. Stone (See Who's Who) of [[red underline]] Stone and Webster, [[/red underline]] which he founded is a prominent engineer and financier and a trustee of Mass. Inst. of Technology.
[[red underline]] Hodenpyl [[/red underline]] read me a copy of a most interesting letter which Lord [[red underline]] McAuley [[/red underline]] wrote in [[red underline]] 1854 [[/red underline]] to a
