New press is 72" wide for making four pages, newspaper wide, printing 3 colors besides black and white printing on same press and can be run 17000-18000-19000? speed per hour. Press is made by Crabtree [[strikethrough]] The [[/strikethrough]] at that company's own cost. The press which Crabtree built for him in his laboratory is only 100 a minute or 6000 an hour only gives 2 colors and is an "offset" press, standard construction excepting for the mercury feed rollers and a Wessel Cylinder for the plates. [[strikethrough]] Such [[/strikethrough]] ^[[The new]] press made by Crabtree Printing Press Co. - Leeds & London will cost about 12000£.

Left Paddington 9:10 arrived Birmingham 11:10. Except for some building extension going on, the whole plant is in regular operation [[red underline]] Laminated is running 24 hours. Had meeting with [[red underline]] Salas about Halowax [[/red underline]] and other matters. He says Halowax has [[strikethrough]] wo [[/strikethrough]] less prospects than ever, because material is being produced 'cheaper' in England and better grade imported from Germany.
I told to Potter new trend in America, is now to make [[red underline]] quick hardening laminated [[/red underline]] so as to apply it to [[red underline]] quick molding [[/red underline]] same as for powder molding. Therefore selecting quick molding resin compositions, probably liming?

Afternoon went with Potter to [[red underline]] Science Museum to see Exhibit of Bakelite [[/red underline]] and other Plastics and general survey of [[red underline]] Plastic Industry. [[/red underline]] Potter and his men have taken [[red underline]] leading part in this very interesting exhibit, [[/red underline]] where our competitors are also represented. But we have even a hydraulic press installed from where ashtrays are molded and distributed to the visitors as souvenirs. Besides pheno-plastics are amino plastics, celluloid shellac, acetate cellulose, galalith etc. and a very instructive description of the whole industry. - No trademarks nor names of manufacturers are mentioned.
