thru a narrow channel connects with [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] [[red underlined]] Blue Mountain Lake, the most beautiful of all the Lakes in the Adirondacks [[/red underlined]] Our camp stands about 6 miles from the next one. So [[red underlined]] we have [[red underlined]] practically Utowana lake to ourselves. The wooded Islands [[/red underlined]] with their growth of balsam trees and other evergreens, and bordered by huge [[red underlined]] granite boulders [[/red underlined]] are strikingly picturesque. Quite a number of [[red underlined]] camps along Blue Mountain [[/red underlined]] Lake, all well kept. Many canoes out some with sails, varied colors of bathing suits of men and women in them, and the background of [[red underlined]] Blue Mountain [[/red underlined]] make a very striking effect. [[red underlined]] Water [[/red underlined] of Blue Mountain Lake as well as of Utowana decidedly [red underlined]] clearer and more colorless than that of the other Adirondack lakes, [[/red underlined]] fed by the brown waters of streams. This night got used to my quarters and had much better sleep.

Our original intention had been to go to-day to [[red underlined]] Montreal to spend our wedding anniversary [[/red underlined]] [[strikethrough]] at [[/strikethrough]] there. But we came to the conclusion that this is exactly the worst of the season where all summer hotels are overcrowded and accommodations are difficult. Furthermore I expect answers from Ripper on my cablegram inviting him to the U.S. for discussion of sale of his patents: So at the last moment we [[red underlined]] changed our plans and asked Dick to drive us to Yonkers, [[/red underline]] using same route as we came, as far as Albany then taking the new road along the West shore of the Hudson.
