one of them painting a banana tree, did not give himself even the trouble of studying the banana leaves, and [[strikethrough]] made h [[/strikethrough]] painted bananas as they never existed
Got the fruit [[strikethrough]] turned [[/strikethrough]] bunches with the individual fruit turned downward instead of upward. - Yet this is called "art" and finds just as sacred a housing in this Art palace as the [[strikethrough]] nev [[/strikethrough]] real masterpieces produced by true masters, honest men.
Then went to the Aquarium also very well frequented and well arranged for easy inspection. Am disappointed to see many specimen labeled as South America and West Indies, when they are [[red underline]] common fish on our Florida shores. [[/red underline]]
The small speed boats with their [[strikethrough]] outward [[/strikethrough]] outboard motors [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] are holding speed contests on the laguna and make a fearful purring noise.
[[red underline]] Food [[/red underline]] served in the exposition restaurants is of very [[red underline]] inferior quality. [[/red underline]] Kept on walking till late afternoon. [[/left margin in red]]
Went early to Stevens Hotel to register for meeting of [[red underline]] Am. Chemical Society. [[/red underline]] Registration room crowded. - Met [[red underline]] Bancroft [[/red underline]] & his wife, Dr & Mrs [[red underline]] Redman [[/red underline]] & his daughter, Barrow, Hill, Mathews, [[red underline]] Whitney, Bigelow, [[/red underline]] and many others I have not seen for years, etc. Walked back to my hotel to have a quiet luncheon alone and to nurse my cold. Afternoon went back to Stevens Hotel for awhile then back here for rest at 7 P.M. Cold strong Easterly wind making things unpleasant. But all these new pretentious hotels, keep their windows closed and the [[strikethrough]] atm [[/strikethrough]] air inside is hot and sultry. This is a noisy crowded city and my sleeping room collects all the noise of the Avenue together with that of the trolley-cars below. Rain again.

[[red underline]] Dr. Ehrenfeld [[/red underline]] curator of chemical division of the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry came to fetch me and [[red underline]] Redman [[/red underline]] to visit the museum at [[red underline]] Jackson park, founded by Rosenwald [[/red underline]] donations. The center part has been constructed since Jan 1, 1933, the further developments have been left for future completion. - This center part is an excellent example of what can be done and shows [[red underline]] intelligence in planning [[/red underline]] and execution. Its most striking feature is a coal-mine
