But studied chemistry engineering and law also has done patent searches. Left him to write me at what salary & conditions he wants to submit to [[underlined]] trial [[/underlined]] employment. Rain all day.
[[underlined]] Dec. 20 [[/underlined]] [[red underlined]] Annual stockholders meeting. Hasslacher, Hamman, Kent, [[/red underlined]] there. [[red underlined]] A. Karpen [[/red underlined]] sent telegram urging distributing cash etc. Wired him back why not. All directors there. Swan made a vice president. - [[red underlined]] Read my report [[/red underlined]] and explained present situation and difficult times. - Pleasant meeting. Preceded by Director's meeting and followed by new director's meeting. Declared [[red underlined]] regular Preferred Dividend. [[/red underlined]]

[[/underlined]]  Tooth [[strikethrough]] better during [[/strikethrough]] ^[[aches.]] This evening Nina, Cornelia and all their children except Freddy surprised us here singing Xmas Carols. - Mr. & Mrs. Walker and their children with them. All children look well and cheerful and make excellent impression. A delightful surprise. Makes me feel happy and proud to be their grandfather.

[[underlined]] December 25, [[/underlined]] 1934. Light snow. The [[red underlined]] whole family here, [[/red underlined]] and George Roll also invited came with Nina and her four children. Little Freddie is very much the youngest as Peter has much out grown him.  Cheerful gathering. The children grown up rather, all in good spirit and well behaved at the long table where we gathered. The traditional [[red underlined]] Turkey, [[/red underlined]] larger than ever. In the afternoon Ninette for some reason or another, got into a fit of tears but was calmed by her grand'ma.
[[underlined]] Dec. 26. [[/underlined]] Mr Anderson and his son of Canadian Bakelite visited our office.

Tucker [[/red underlined]] to talk about [[red underlined]] Bakelite exhibit for Chandler Museum.
Crosby [[/red underlined]] who is older than I am is entirely [[red underlined]] recuperated of his illness, looks better than [[/red underlined]] ever. Tells us he is astounded how little the average New Yorker knows about what is going on in other parts of the country. That [[red underlined]] here they reproach Roosevelt because he is too radical [[/red underlined]] while in the country at large specially in farming districts they [[red underlined]] blame him because he is too conservative [[/red underlined]] and that Roosevelt knows it. [[red underlined]] R. will have quite a tussle with next meeting of Congress. [[/red underlined]] Crosby who formerly was in Abysinnia and Somaliland
