[[left margin in red]] Air conditioned train [[/ left margin in red]]
Took my journals and papers relating to income taxes and financial affairs of Bakelite to Fairchild's in a valise for safekeeping.
[[underline]] April 17. [[/underline]] Went to register for primaries
[[underline]] April 18. [[/underline]] Left at 10:20 A.M. by [[underline]] Seaboard Air Line. [[/underline]] Few passengers on "Florida Blossom Train". Still no rain! Train [[red underline]] "air conditioned" [[/red underline]] and windows are kept closed. This insures not only the same agreeable temperature throughout the trip but what is even a more valuable comfort is that [[underline]] there is no dust [[/underline]] and linen and clothes remain clean. First time I made this trip during the day. Far more interested and pleasant than in the Atlantic Coast Line trains [[strikethrough]] wh [[/strikethrough]] with the class of people who come from Cuba or from all the wait stations. Route lies through center of Florida and much less settled places one sees cattle herded by men on horseback, then endless citrus fields. Little and larger lakes, [[strikethrough]] It [[/strikethrough]] and the aspect of the [[red underline]] Everglades [[/red underline]] with [[red underline]] white and gray Herons [[/red underline]] everywhere. [[red underline]] Nigger shantees [[/red underline]] and [[strikethrough]] old and [[/strikethrough]] log cabins old and newer easily and well made from the abundance of [[red underline]] swamp cedar forests.[[/red underline]] Disappearance of [[red underline]] Coeopalus [[guess]] [[/red underline]] and abundance of [[red underline]] Cabbage [[/red underline]]
