formic acid, besides the functions of its carboxylic group as an acid, might not under certain conditions function as an aldehyde. 
This point of view of course is a "long shot" but so many unforeseen reactions have been accomplished lately. Came back over New Jersey and the Palisades by Yonkers Alpine Ferry. [[written in red]] Cyanamide [[/written in red]]

Met Col. [[red underline]] Pope & Richardson [[/red underline]] at their office in R.CO. building with George and Rossi. [[red underline]] Richardson [[/red underline]] first gave statment as to average earnings of the different companies allied with them and which amounted to about [[red underline]] $10,000,000 yearly [[/red underline]] giving a resume of their relative merits and prospects. After which Pope extended his remarks and finally suggested that our evaluation of assets and average earnings would put us in a ratio of about 1/10 or 1/9, for which they would give us this amount in the total issued stock. Inserted on the advantages of a diversified undertaking of the kind where in times of depression better earnings of some of the companies ofset losses in others Central management but each company run by its own competent directors. etc. The whole practically [[red underline]] functioning as a large diversified Investment Trust, [[red underline]] with the advantage that there were [[red underline]] no bankers [[/red underline]]
