This evening 8 P.M had visit of Karl [[red underline]] Miner [[/red underline]] the lawyer who stayed until after 10 telling of experiences and subjects of common interest; served him some butter stewed [[red underline]] Akees [[/red underline]] with a glass of [[red underline]] wine [[/red underline]] and gave him some [[red underline]] Akees [[/red underline]] to prepare himself at home 
[[underline]] Aug 3. [[/underline]] Cooler weather. Took up study of [[red underline]] Catalin [[/red underline]] and belated correspondence. All day busy at it. Telegram from [[red underline]] Boston asking me to be one of the Honorary Pallbearers [[/red underline]] at the funeral of my departed friend, [[red underline]] Dr. Little, [[/red underline]] monday in Boston. -

Unfortunately have arranged everything for busy Monday and Byck etc expressely coming here, to hurry up investigation of pending Patent suit from Catalin. So wired accordingly

[[red underline]] Lawrence Byck [[/red underline]] arrived here about 9.A.M and stayed till about 6 P.M. He had just come back from his vacation. Looks in good health and [[red underline]] is filling responsible position [[/red underline]] at Bound Brook in manufacturing department he directs. Also in relation to improvement and contact with our customers, where his advice is is much appreciated. [[red underline]] He is the oldest in [[strikethrough]] my empt [[/strikethrough]] continuous employ [[/red underline]] since I started my work on Bakelite then with General Bakelite, then with Bakelite corporation. his [[red underline]] high school [[/red underline]] course in Yonkers and was then about 16. He was warmly [[red underline]] recommended by his professor [[/red underline]] of physics and chemistry. First served as [[red underline]] helper under Gothelf, [[/red underline]] then gradually was entrusted with different special research.

When he entered my laboratory, he showed evidence of being a very [[red underline]] good amateur photographer. [[/red underline]] Had also [[red underline]] rigged up a Radio receiver [[/red underline]] and was one of the first few men I knew, who had entered this field. Was frequently sent to Perth Amboy to discuss or colaborate with our men there. About [[strikethrough]] 1910 [[/strikethrough]] ^[[1914]] was transferred to [[red underline]] Perth Amboy, [[/red underline]] then later on to [[strikethrough]] Ba [[/strikethrough]] the new plant in [[red underline]] Bound Brook. [[/red underline]] He resides now at Elizabeth is [[red underline]] married and has two children [[/red underline]] now at school. Will ask him to write me a short sketch of his work with Bakelite since he entered my service
Went with him over all my samples here in lab. after I had explained to him the recent patent suit of Catalin against one of their smaller competitors. He easily [[red underline]] recognised a large number of samples made here [[/red underline]] many years [[red underline]] before the Catalin [[/red underline]] owned patents were filed in Austria or in the U.S. -
