[[underline]] Oct. [[/underline]] 3. At 11.AM. [[red underline]] Whitaker [[/red underline]] came here to talk further about consolidation with Am. [[red underline]] Cyanamid. [[/red underline]] He started telling me they wanted to centralise their research laboratories and have them run by him as the head.
[[vertical note in left margin in red]] Cyanamid [[/vertical note in left margin]] They had long ago decided to do this and had figured that to do so they would need a building which would cost them over a million to construct. But they had found an excellent discarded building for sale at Bridgeport spacious and of most descernable architecture, [[strikethrough]] whi [[/strikethrough]] for which they only paid a couple of hundred thousand Dollars. - He seemed to insinuate that [[red underline]] George and myself would be desirable directors for Cyanamid if we merged. [[/red underline]] - Spoke frankly to him that I was disinclined to this merger, but if a way could be found [[strikethrough]] th [[/strikethrough]] whereby Bakelite could maintain its absolute independence, while cooperating with Cyanamid Co in a friendly way I would welcome it

That I knew that [[red underline]] George had similar sentiments [[/red underline]] and would jump out if he had to work with objectionable associates

That neither George nor I were men whose God was money or profits. - Told him you ask us to enter a large and attractive palace where we [[strikethrough]] shall [[/strikethrough]] would have a separate room but connected with other rooms by other people. That we would dine together. But on mealtime we would meet and sit together. But some of the men might disturb us by
