That the plaintiff was very well and adroitly prepared except that Mr. Mann who conducted their case made a great blunder by making their chemists explain to the utmost detail, the whole run of their manufacturing methods. So that now everybody who got a copy from that trial, could start a little factory with a few pots and pans in some hidden corner and induce an ignorant financier to back him. That they would even more so [[list?]] the case in case their patents were further contested and declared invalid. - He seemed much surprised at this. -  Told him also that the defense was very badly prepared and spent its efforts on side patents of small or no importance while they overlooked entirely certain facts of which we were acquainted and which might have thrown their suit out. -

We would gladly take a license, but their license as presented to us, was inacceptable for several reasons: The most important being that it risks the application of the laws against price fixing.
