in which declared overdue 1 years Preferred [[red underline]] 6½% dividend [[/red underline]] together with [[red underline]] 4th quarterly [[/red underline]] Pfd dividend of 1935. Then stockholders meeting and election of directors - All went smoothly and took less than one hour. (See my Presidential address) Same officers reelected. [[underline]] Dec. 6. [[/underline]] Had long interview with [[red underline]] Redman [[/red underline]] explaining and reading to him the history of the prior art on the subject of Catalin suit. Gave him the necessary documents to study further. [[red underline]] George and Rossi [[/red underline]] both think that [[red underline]] Wieth is not the best man for directing research. [[/red underline]] Both criticise him and [[red underline]] so does Redman who urged them not to make Wieth "director [[/red underline]] of research". I [[red underline]] ask to Rossi: "Who is a better man [[/red underline]] for the job. - Is it Redman? or any one else? [[red underline]] Rossi admits he knows of no [[/red underline]] better man at present. - [[red underline]] Rossi forgets that not so many years ago he was quite a problem to us, [[/red underline]] and was not then the man he is today. [[vertical note in left margin in red]] Wieth [[/vertical note in left margin]] [[red underline]] George B [[/red underline]] who also keeps on criticising Wieth [[red underline]] forgets the same as what I say about Rossi. [[/red underline]] - There is that eternal same tendency of one department criticising the other.
I have sent $2000 to Columbia to be divided between the Chemical Engineering dept, and the Department of Chemistry. - as a contribution. Shall discuss Wieth matter with Redman, next with first time
