and full of wit and action and strong, healthy and very good looking [[red underline]] Nina [[/red underline]] sent us a [[red underline]] set of excellent photos of her children, [[/red underline]] separate and in group with a group in which she and Celine are in the center. [[red underline]] Celine Roll seems overgrown [[/red underline]] and keeps quiet. She is the [[red underline]] most studious of all, [[/red underline]] altho' all show well in their schoolwork. [[red underline]] Nina B is cheerful and reconciled with her brother George since he called her to order [[/red underline]] some time ago. Am glad she came to reason. All in all a [[red underline]] happy, healthy family of which one can proud. [[/red underline]] Am glad [[red underline]] George Roll [[/red underline]] was around and seemed pleased. However the [[strikethrough]] boy c [[/strikethrough]] man could not fail to realise how his stubborness and conceited awkwardness made him lose his Bakelite connection.

On evening Celine and I drove to George Baekeland's home where we met the Roll family & George Roll to see the [[red underline]] Movie - Tone [[/red underline]] (with music) which the [[red underline]] British Bakelite Company [[/red underline]] sent us. It was my second occasion to see it and it is admirably done. Kept the whole family and children spellbound. Then later on George showed some color-cinema's, bathing and sailing scenes on our Adirondack lake also some swimming and diving of his children etc. in his swimming pool in Scarsdale. Celine and I [[red underline]] returned home after a very happy and interesting [[/red underline]] Xmas. More beautiful and inspiring than anything we ever dared dream of in our earlier days of trials. - The greatest gift in our

old days. [[red underline]] May our children and grandchildren grow up in the same happy results. [[/red underline]] - We certainly could not wish anything better! [[red underline]] May the girls [[/red underline]] specially [[red underline]] follow the example of Celine. [[/red underline]] [[underline]] Dec. 26 [[/underline]] At 12:30 met [[red underline]] Dr. Ripper [[/red underline]] at University Club for luncheon and had general talk about many matters. He seems much pleased with his connection with [[red underline]] Am. Cyanamid [[/red underline]] Co. I tried to impress him that he was with a most excellent group of men, several of whom are old friends of mine. Told him also [[red underline]] about Mr. Bell's admirable qualities [[/red underline]] He has not yet met him. That the company in general organisation spirit and group of men is well ahead of most concerns.
[[underline]] Dec 27. [[/underline]] Have received [[red underline]] many letters of thanks [[/red underline]] also personal experience of [[red underline]] our employes [[/red underline]] to whom we all have given a 5% bonus on their salaries. The unexpected arrival of the extra remuneration together with their usual pay-check, came as a surprise to them and seems to have kindled their spirit of loyalty to Bakelite.
Discussed with Geo and Rossi how to handle the [[red underline]] Catalin [[/red underline]] situation, by accepting a license on their patents [[underline]] provided [[/underline]] we do not thereby oblige ourselves to recognise the validity of their patents and can withdraw from them if we judge this necessary. Advised Rossi to handle this subject alone with Thiele and leave the lawyers, Mann and Barus out.
At 4 P.M met Prof [[red underline]] Thomas and Hixson [[/red underline]] at Columbia to discuss candidates
