[[underlined]] March 18. [[\underlined]] Went to Dr. Jeffrey 9.30 AM for my yearly medical inspection. Everything seems O.K but I want a Cardiograph taken at some time or another as a corroboration. Some of the asphalt tiles are lifting again; since yesterday the air was very dry and crisp; 43% humidity indoors.
Today Celine gave her annual luncheon at the Roney Plaza.
Northerly wind, fine weather but cool - 50° to 65°
[[underlined]] March 19. [[\underlined]] Answered George's impatient letter recommending increase of salaries to former rates to Rossi & Sanford Brown. Asked him a number of questions as how and when to do it without committing injustices to others and recriminations.
Went out with Andrew in our new flat bottom boat and outboard motor. Behaved excellently and although low water were able to inspect every recess along the shore of Silver Bluffs etc. Just as we reached home again, outboard struck a rock and fell in the water. - Will have to be sent for repairs. This new boat is exactly what we wanted in size and shape for small excursions and altho we had a strong Southerly it skimmed the top of the waves and kept very dry. On returning found Mr. Gallowin to pay me a visit

Since then she has had several relapses and cure seems hopeless. - What a sad tragedy.
[[underlined]] March 20 [[\underlined]] More bad news of floods in Pittsburgh, Johnstown and many other places. Many lives lost and intense dammage. Also in Connecticut, Northern N.Y etc etc. - Snow in North Carolina and other places. A Hurricane seems less fearful than such disasters. - Further war probability in Europe.
Celine at Bretts for luncheon.
[[underlined]] March 21. [[\underlined]] Bright & dry again N.W. Special delivery Air-Mail letter to George, discussing further the subject of raising salaries of directors. Went out in flat boat along the coast Southward to the shore of Bretts. Outboard had been repaired and put in excellent shape in a few hours at the small cost of $7.00. The ideal boat for shallow waters.
