shoal on account of beacons having been destroyed by the hurricane; but by kedging from the storm, got loose after about 30 minutes and resumed our course. Arrived at Bay Honda anchorage at 4.30 P.M. Found there 3 large houseboats and their fishing boats tarpon fishing. This place seems to have become known since I was there last. Marvelous calm landscape and calm clear water. A large number of sponging vessels and these boats are out fishing for sponges, during these calm days when the water is so clear. - Formerly none of the main boats had power. They either were antiquated sloops, sometimes small schooners all very dilapidated and they ran back home at the end of the week to put their sponges in the crawls and renew provisions.
At present they have discarded power boats or small antiquated houseboats which serve as center while at anchor to the spongers who go out in their small row-boats.
April 25/ Ran for "No Name Key" which is now the landing of the Ferrys which carry autos and passengers from Matecumbe, since the R.R. was destroyed by the hurricane. A wooden bridge connects No Name Key with Big Pine Key and other Bridges over the keys make an easy road to Key West.

Many white Herons along our route along the small Keys of Big Spanish Channel, well boyed. Arrived and turned the Beacon of end of Harbor Key shoal at 10.42.
