This is a pleasant anchorage with no houses or habitations around.  Shores of neighboring keys all Mangroves.
[[underlined]] May 2. [[\underlined]]  Saturday.  Andrew still away almost all spongers gone.  Our ice in ice-chest almost all gone.  Still N by E winds.  Last night had sudden attack of mosquitoes but managed to get in my cabin in time so had a pleasant night with all doors & windows locked to keep them out.
This morning bright and cheerful.  Temp. 80° outside & 86° in cabin but air is dry and northerly breeze welcome.
At 5 P.M. Andrew returned and brought ice and the new parts.

His arrival is a delight.  Tomorrow morning he and Weathers will start early putting in the new parts.
Quite an article in Miami Herald about the burning of the bridge.  Andrew says Key-West was much downcast by the news.  He had no trouble in cashing my $25.00 checks.  Also brought two latest Miami Herald's numbers.
As usually here at sunset, gnats, punkys & mosquitoes make an onslaught.  Only way to doge them is to get into cabins & close everything before they can enter +

fumigating for any unforeseen openings.  As air is dry, temperature of 82° does not seem warm.  In fact the breeze made it necessary to put my coat on, which I shall keep and am keeping while writing this.  Arrival of Andrew, adds gladness to our expectant attitude.  Barometer falling slightly.
[[underlined]] Sunday [[\underlined]] May 3:  Bright an sunny.  Andrew helped by Weathers worked from 8 AM. till 12 reinstalling shaft and engine.  Paid $7.50 to Weathers.  He asked only 5.00.  Tried the engine by circling around the bay.  Then after hurried meal we left our anchorage at 1.15 P.M.  Sunny bright weather.  Passed Bow-leg Keys at 6.30 P.M and anchored between Bow leg Channel and Arbor Vitae Key at 6.40 P.M.  Beautiful sunset calm sea.  A few mosquitoes after sunset but retired in cabin.  Impressed by the majesty of these wild and quiet surroundings.  Fumigation of my cabin for driving away mosquitoes very successful.
