[[red underline]] Steamer Bremen, [[/red underline]] sistership to SS. Europa with which I arrived sailed at 12:15 P.M. for
Cherbourg. Course led us along the endless yachts (on Solent? and around [[red underline]] Isle of Wight. [[/red underline]] Then stopped at Cherbourg [[strikethrough]] about [[/strikethrough]]

while additional passengers entered boat.
Was delighted to find a nice [[red underline]] letter of [[bold red underline]] Dickie [[/bold red underline]] Baekeland, [[/red underline]] also [[strikethrough]] di [[/strikethrough]] latin dipoloma of Fellow
of the [[red underline]] Royal Society of Edinburgh [[/red underline]] which was sent by [[red underline]] Kendall [[/red underline]] together with Scotch Newspapers
announcing the events. Am delighted to see that [[red underline]] Dr. Sarton
and Prof. Wheeler [[/red underline]] the entomologist both from [[red underline]] Harvard [[/red underline]] had been

honored in the same way. Sent a telegram of thanks to [[red underline]] Kendall. [[/red underline]] As usually have instructed not to print my name on passenger list. Did not expect to meet any acquaintances.

Then [[strikethrough]] wen [[/strikethrough]] while standing near the gang plank where incoming passengers etc. came aboard, was suddenly confronted in the crowd with a lady who acted rather familiar with me [[red underline]] passing her arm around me [[/red underline]] and I taken by surprise, ready to say: "Madam, you take me for another!", when I found [[red underline]] it was Nina [[/red underline]] laughing aloud, and accompanied by her husband, who had been touring thru England, Scotland, Netherland, Belgium and France in their motor car which had been put aboard our steamer at Cherbourg. - A great and unexpected surprise to me
