She showed the letter to Cornelia but it did not have much effect upon her. I fear [[red underlined]] Cornelia's [[/red underlined]] behavior [[strikethrough]] is ab [[/strikethrough]] and aims is about the same as so many [[red underlined]] wastrels, [[/red underlined]], whose [[red underlined]] vanity, egotism [[/red underlined]] and lazy life, is a bad example for others and specially their children who are apt to follow in their footsteps. The [[red underlined]] mother of Cornelia, [[/red underlined]] certainly did not give her a good example. - In most cases, or perhaps all, a disillusioned unhappy old age is the consequence. - [[red underlined]] I fear for George's children if they take after their mother. [/red underlined]]
[[underlined]] Sept 11. [[/underlined]] Went to National Museum of Smithsonian Institution. Saw there [[red underlined]] my portrait in the [[/red underlined]] photographic division along other men who had contributed to the art [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] and technology of photography. Also our recently erected exhibit of Bakelite among other plastics. Dr. Ames has suggested to give me a table [[strikethrough]] commemor [[/strikethrough]] on the ground floor, [[strikethrough]] alon [[/strikethrough]] alongside the exhibit commemorating the work of my departed friend [[red underlined]] Acheson. [[/red underlined]] - This is quite an honor.

We also should have one of the Liberty Motor Bakelite current distributors as they were used during the war. Afternoon the members of Congress all left for [[red underline]] Mount Vernon, to visit Washington's farm. [[/red underline]] Special steamer met many friends - specially Dr. [[red underline]] Cottrell, [[/red underline]] who introduced me to many others one of them [[strikethrough]] an old [[/strikethrough]] a Japanese [[strikethrough]] whom [[/strikethrough]] with whom he went to college and is now an important teacher in Japan
Returned after dark. - Very pleasant excursion.

Was sorry to observe that this busy week has had a bad effect upon the health of [[red underline]] Gano Dunn, he looks tired [[/red underline]] and admits he is much played out. Hope rest may help him to recover.
