[[/underline]] [[red underline]] Celine joined Fairchilds, [[/red underline]] for beach party of Mrs. Brett [[strikethrough]] at her estate, & luncheon [[/strikethrough]] and luncheon at her estate. This gave me opportunity for [[strikethrough]] prepa [[/strikethrough]] writing letters and preparing for next meeting of A.C.S.
[[underline]] April 5. [[/underline]] 
Received a long letter of [[red underline]] 13 long pages X

from X George B. [[/note in left margin]]
reviewing his life with Cornelia Middlebrook their divorce [[/red underline]] and giving the history of his unhappy married life and its effect on his children, [[red underline]] and describing the lady who his intends to marry [[/red underline]] giving the details of her past life and how he decided to marry her after due deliberation. His [[red underline]] whole letter expressed an elevated spirit, [[/red underline]] tempered by reason and consideration for his children, who have lost respect for her mother. I feel proud to have a son of such noble character and well balanced mind. I hope he may find all happiness in this new phase of his life.
[[underline]] April 6 [[/underline]] [[strikethrough]] Celine and [[/strikethrough]] Mrs. Fairchild came to fetch Celine to drive together to Palm Beach. Cloudburst in Florida and adjacent states. [[strikethrough]] H [[/strikethrough]] Heavy rainfall. The ladies were delayed till 8 P.M. [[red underline]] Received from Sir Richard Gregory. - editor of Nature his book: Discovery with his [[/red underline]] compliments & thanks

[[red underline]] Am advised from Edinburgh University that they expect me at the Ceremony of [[underline]] July 2, for receiving the honorary degree of LL.D. [[/red underline]] 
Wrote them am arranging my plans to be there at that time. George B is planning to take his honeymoon trip to Europe in May and will be back before I go to Europe. - G. T. Co = 153,670.

April 8. Wrote long letter to Leifur Magnusson, explaining why I cannot be present at the dinner of April 22 in New York where [[red underline]] I am to receive the scroll of distinguished citizenship [[/red underline]] 
Celine & Mrs. Fairchild went out together and Celine sprained her ancle while walking. This will keep her in bed until we leave next Sunday morning. [[red underline]] Allan Brown [[/red underline]] submits me a plan - sketch of a [[red underline]] [[underline]] Cinema [[/underline]] history of Bakelite [[/red underline]] and its applications giving the story of its invention, then of its modern applications. The film to be used in schools, or meetings etc. -
[[underline]] April 9. [[/underline]] Celine stays in bed reading so as to rest her ankle. Got a bill of over [[red underline]] 500$ [[/red underline]] for boatyard [[red underline]] work on ION. [[/red underline]] This afternoon Celine feels much better and is enabled to walk around without pain. Visit of Paul D. Boone of Washington
