[[underlined]] June 8 [[/underlined]] Drove to [[underlined in red]] Bloomfield, then to Bound Brook same day not stopping for luncheon but eating sandwich in motor [[/underlined in red]] car Beautiful weather. Feel [[underlined in red]] delighted at progress made in Bloomfield and more so in Bound Brook. Imposing development of phenols [[/underlined in red]] Department under [[underlined in red]] Molinari [[/underlined in red]] at a time when cresol is so scarce  Also new installation of Urea department, with [[blank space]] in charge.  Production not yet begun. These [[underlined in red]] departments are much improved [[/underlined in red]] and clean, much more so than last year.  [[underlined in red]] I feel elated at the fine group of men we have with us. [[/underlined in red]] The cast resin department much extended, [[underlined in red]] sales much increased and better products [[/underlined in red]] than last year.  Mainly due to work of research dept. in Bound Brook, helped by Dr. Schmidt. Left at 8 A.M. back at Snug Rock at 6 P.M. [[underlined in red]] Resibond -- [[strikethrough]] Resolite [[/strikethrough]] equipment, is now in production; [[/underlined in red]] but has occasional stoppages.

Had long conversation with [[underlined in red]] Wightman, [[/underlined in red]] whose paper plant has been dismantled and [[underlined in red]] seems rather discouraged [[/underlined in red]]. Braced him up to the point that later on received a spirited letter of thanks.  [[underlined in red]] Says every one of my visits braces him up. [[/underlined in red]]  Poor chap is so earnest in all he does and does not live enough among more cheerful group.

Pleasant set of passengers Steamer well filled. Mostly Americans and a few Germans. no Jews. Pleasant company. [[underlined in red and bracketed]] Dr. Newkirk Dr. Horesi [[/underlined and bracketed]] both chemists of [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] one of the large American Companies (Corn Products Co.) going to visit German research laboratories.  [[underlined in red]] Dr. Horesi [[/underlined in red]] graduated from the U. of Prag.
Later on got acquainted with Dr. [[underlined in red]] Gaspari [[/underlined in red]] (Caspari) formerly of College of Pharmacy and [[underlined in red]] now [[/underlined in red]] consultant in [[underlined in red]] St. Louis. [[/underlined in red]] A very pleasant man of long experience. Was with Mrs. Caspari, born a French-Swiss and by the [[underlined in red]] mother of young Queeny of Monsanto [[/underlined in red]] Chemical Co.  His mother's name is Monsanto. (Olga Monsanto)
