A beautiful cloudless day  Temp 77°F
The Miami Herald in front page announces my election to the Messel Medal, thru Associated Press. - So need no longer be secretive about this new honor.  
Beautiful day (National Holiday)
So telegraphed the office accordingly.
[[underlined]] Jan 20. [[/underlined]]  Another blue sky day  Temp. 74°F  Busy answering letters.
[[underlined]] Jan 21. [[/underlined]]  This morning trying to board the Ion, fell between the wall of the harbor and the boat, and hurt my left shin and somewhat my left hip.  Except for some bleeding and local pain on my shin, did not seem to affect me much.  The little flesh wound went as deep as the gone.  Used iodoform and a bandage.  Took a swim in the swimming tank.  Water 70°F.  This evening at 10.30 P.M., while I was part asleep, was awakened by barking dogs, a glaring motor car light and continued ringing of the door bell. - It was Judge Ritter who just had received just before, a telephone call from Nina asking him to find out whether I was ill and to telephone her after visiting me. - This spoiled me a whole

night's sleep. - People who sit out late imagine that everyone does the same.
[[underlined]] Jan 22. [[/underlined]]  Congratulations coming in from everywhere since the news of my award of the Messel Medal by the British Society of Chemical Industry has appeared in the newspapers.
[[underlined]] Jan 23. [[/underlined]]  Sunday  All day at home, writing letters and answering congratulations. - The NY Tribune Herald, N.Y Times, Yonkers Herald, Miami Herald etc.
[[underlined]] Jan 24. [[/underlined]]  Celine sent me list of securities for paying Florida tax on Intangibles.  
Another beautiful bright day occupied mostly answering letters of congratulations.
Judge Ritter came here to tell me that Phillip Wyman had been told by someone in New York that a Radio broadcast had spread the news that I was dead!  Hence Nina called Judge Ritter at the phone to inquire about me!
[[underlined]] Jan 25 [[/underlined]]  Went to the dinner of the Technology Club in honor of Dr. Compton head of the Massachusetts Institute Technology  About 100 participants.  Ladies and men.  No beer nor wine nor alcoholic drinks.
