Went out with Murray to inspect Royal Palms in different places of the neighborhood to examine effect of dry dead roots exposed after erosion of soil. Bought a second hand heavy duty truck for 64$ to carry muck and rock during summer.
[[underlined]] April 19. [[/underlined]] Had visits to Celine who is leaving tonight for New York. [[strikethrough]] Vist [[/strikethrough]] Visitors = Judge & Mrs. Halsted Ritter, Dr. Huchinson, Dr & Mrs. Fairchild. Celine left this evening
[[underlined]] April 20 [[/underlined]]  Continue revision of my Ottawa address.

[[underlined]] April 21. [[/underlined]]  Left with ION this morning. From harbor 8:05. Andrew and Rowe, besides myself. Left entrance of east channel 8:50 went to opposite Virgina Key, then turned Southward arrived at Grassy Key at 1:30 P.M; left at 2 P.M. arrived in my harbor at 4 P.M. Engine and sails worked perfectly. Going Southward we had wind against us; but used jib-sail and mizzen on returning with wind almost aft.  Very enjoyable excursion.
[[underlined]] April 22. [[/underlined]]  Sent to our office my pencil written address Science & Industry for Ottawa meeting, to have it typewritten for further changes
[[underlined]] April 23. [[/underlined]]  Went to [[strikethrough]] P [[/strikethrough]] the Parrot Farm with Dr. & Mrs. Fairchild this morning. Then afternoon a short light rain. Everything everywhere where much need of rain

Letter from George, in answer to my criticisms of board of directors trying to lay off, [[blank space]] & [[blank space]]
Also report from Horn as to sales which now are 60% below same period last year. Most enterprises report similar shrinkage of sales. Meantime surplus profits tax is not abolished as desired; altho the rate of this killing tax is somewhat less than last year.
[[underlined]] April 24 Sunday. [[/underlined]] Cloudy, little wind still no rain. Restful day
[[underlined]] April 25. [[/underlined]] At home all day
[[underlined]] April 26. [[/underlined]]  Went to young Harrison's photo-developing plant. Then Andrew drove me around visiting several places around Coral Gables & South Miami. The drought shows everywhere. Large number of fired bush. Received 8 excellent typewritten copies of my address: Science & Industry.  
Afternoon paid a visit to Mr. & Mrs. Cutter: Mrs. Parmiento was there also.
