169/ Many dear old friends. 
First among them arrived Potter and Dring of our British Bakelite [[strikethrough]] Corp [[/strikethrough]] Co. Ltd; General meeting at Chateau Laurier (our hotel) where welcome by the Mayor at 10:30.

Then at 2 P.M. Mr. Foster Braxton gave his excellent lecture on the history of plastics. Generously [[strikethrough]] ans [[/strikethrough]] describing my pioneer work also projecting an excellent portrait of me on the screen
3:30 P.M. All out in busses for a visit to The Experimental Farm where group of us all was taken. George Baekeland and his wife arrived too late
To bed early for rest 
[[underlined]] June 21. [[/underlined]] Meeting of Canadian Institute of Chemists. 9.A.M. Symposium on Canadian Natural resources
12:30 Luncheon at Ball Room was placed on head table, seat of honor right of Lord Leverhulm
1:30P.M. My lecture = "Science & Industry" in Conventional hall which was packed to utmost. Celine of course there also George Baekeland and his wife. Leverhulm gave me a generous introduction after which he gave history of Messel Medal and my predecessors, then handed me the Medal and a check for fifty pounds sterling. The latter I slipped back quietly

in the hands of the Secretary of the Society to be used for the Messel Fund. My lecture took less than 30 minutes and was well received. I was in good trim and voice and looking at Celine who has meant so much [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] in my life. There was also a distribution of copies of the photographic group of Kekulé and some of his pupils taken in 1863 in the laboratory of Kekulé where Celine's father, then first assistant of Kekulé is sitting at the right of Kekulé while Glaser sits at his left. This photo was made from the copy in my possession and was made to 300 [[strikethrough]] for dis [[/strikethrough]] for distribution, in relation to the history of modern chemistry which was the subject of my lecture. Feel glad I had done my task. Took it restful while the others went to [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] visit the Power plant + Tea
At 7:30P.M. The Presidents reception in [[underlined]] full dress, orders and decorations. [[/underlined]] A very numerous gathering in the largest room of Chateau Laurier. Followed by an elaborate well served dinner x.
