had luncheon in the large ball room of Chateau Laurier, where Professor Marston Bogert of Columbia University, recently elected in Rome as President of the international Congress of Chemistry delivered an address.
The Chairman was Dr. R.H. Clark, President Canadian Chemical Association
General Mc.Haughton head of Canadian Army was guest of honor and placed between me and Lord Leverhulme, President, with Bogert as speaker on his left.
Bogert started as usually with a few reminiscences etc. - then spoke of his dear former Professor Chandler and anecdotes. - Then to my great surprise enumerated my career in the most elogious form, so much that I felt rather embarrased at this unexpected outburst of friendship. He told many annecdotes about me and many details of my whole career, in Europe and more particularly in America, etc. etc. His speech was very much appreciated by all and was a great surprise to me on the part of one of my oldest and dearest friends in America. Was sorry Celine and the other ladies were absent, away on excursion
this evening left for home, taking 5.30 P.M. Standard Time for Montreal, where changed train for sleeper to arrive next morning at Croton Station

Beautiful garden and flowers of Snug Rock and abundance of Mangos and Akees received from Florida home. Feels like heaven! At dinner Celine and I talked about past present and future times and our children; our trials and our successes - pleasant retrospections. Celine drove to the Wymans at Scarsborough to meet the children.

Temp. 80°F then cooler Reminiscences with Celine of times long ago and the children & grand'children, their past and future. This beautiful garden, with so many trees which I planted myself and remind us of the time when children and grandchildren were in their early years. Restful day.
