Was pleasantly surprised all seemed to know me and called me by my name. Wanted to study the map of [[strikethrough]] my [[/strikethrough]] my Yonkers property. Afternoon went to New York. 
[[underlined]] Nov. 4. [[/underlined]]  [[strikethrough]] Drov [[/strikethrough]] [[underlined]] Supper in honor of Dr. Dorr [[/underlined]] of Chemist Club, and award of Medal of Soc. Chemical Industry. 
Place crowded. Preliminary dinner. Met many old friends. Wallace Cohoe and Mrs. Cohoe drove me home in their car. At dinner sat near Dr. Zeisberg of Dupont Co. His daughter Elizabeth Zeisberg is a pupil at Bennington College in Vermont where Celine Roll is.
[[underlined]] Nov. 5. [[/underlined]] At 3.30 P.M had meeting with Celine and [[underlined]] Merle Walker [[/underlined]] to sell some of our stocks which have depreciated so as to enable us [[underlined]] to write losses off our taxes of 1938 [[/underlined]]

At office, Rossi there but not George.

Visit of [[underlined]] Dr. Armand [[strikethrough]] Perrine [[/strikethrough]] Pirenne, [[/underlined]] one of Hoover scholarship foundation now studying at Princeton. Took him to University Club for luncheon.
Sent some mangos to Dean J.W. Barker of Columbia University
[[underlined]] November 8 [[/underlined]]  Election day. Have mailed my vote to Florida, together with that of Celine, about one week ago.
Cloudy sultry weather, followed by heavy rain. - Bad weather for Republican voters.
[[underlined]] November 9. [[/underlined]] [[strikethrough]] At office all [[//strikethrough]] Elections all over U.S. bring heavy losses to F. [[underlined]]  Roosevelt and his [[strikethrough]] new [[/strikethrough]] New-Deal followers. [[/underlined]] Went to office in the morning.  But returned to Yonkers at noon. Evening went to [[underlined]] Dinner in honor of Maximilian Toch. [[/underlined]]

George Baekeland and his wife was there also.  Many of my old friends were there.  [[underlined]] Moore [[/underlined]] of Bakelite Corp. [[underlined]] presided [[/underlined]] the meeting. Speeches by Bogert, Toch, myself and Whitaker
