[[underlined]] Dec. 6 [[/underlined]] This afternoon visited the offices of Hooker Electrochemical Co. in New York. Only found  Elon Hooker's brother there. Place seems very empty.
4 P.M. meeting of [[underlined]] Belgian American Foundation Mr. Hoover presiding [[/underlined]] Belgian Ambassador van der Straeten-Pontoz present
[[underlined]] Dec 7. [[/underlined]] Pledged George Baekeland and Rossi to secrecy about pending [[/underlined]] deal with Cyanamid and if any body ask to firmly deny.

[[underlined]] Annual meeting of stockholders of Bakelite. Redman [[/underlined]] there also
other directors. Only outside shareholders. Old Brown, and the surviving son of Hasslacher. Everything went smoothly. [[underlined]] No bonus [[/underlined]] or participation of profits [[underlined]] this year, [[/underlined]] nor dividends on the common. But regular dividends on preferred stock.
[[underlined]] Dec 9. [[/underlined]] At Yonkers all day writing. Celine in New York.

Assembly room of office was packed. I judge there were 100 to 125 men there. Rupert Lowe

Told them how as a boy I got interested in chemistry by seeing fire works and later on having a classmate whose father was a photographer. - Then my career at the University of Ghent, and as [[underlined]] professor in Bruges. Then laureate [[/underlined]] of the 4 Belgian Universities. Travelling fellowship which led me to America. [[underlined]] Acquaintance of Prof. Chandler, [[/underlined]] who introduced [[strikethrough]]met t [[/strikethrough]]
me to [[underlined]] Anthony. [[/underlined]] My work there, then later started Nepera Chemical Co. and manufacture of photographic papers of which [[double underlined]] "Velox" [[/double underlined]] made my reputation. Then sold out to Eastman. A free man. Studied  Electrochemistry in Germany. Then my work with 
[[underlined]] Sperry and Townsend [[/underlined]] for Hooker Electrochemical Co. Then Bakelite and its early beginnings. I [[underlined]] talked for 2 hours [[/underlined]] and received full attention, but [[underlined]] felt rather played out.[[/underlined]]
