Received a telegram from Phillip Wyman that Nina's progress from her operation is satisfactory.

[[/underlined]] Afternoon out with sails to try long oar as emergency rudder. - Concluded to discard my dear old square sail, as I find out that neither my negro sailor Rowe, nor Andrew know little about square sails, and that the long yard is a danger when leaving or entering my harbor, on account of overhanging Coconut Palms.
