[[underlined]] Left ear still soundless. - But right ear works well. [[/underlined]] Feel much better.  Frieda, the maid, is returning this afternoon to New York
[[underlined]] April 16 [[/underlined]] (Sunday)  Went to Miami for ears examination by Dr. Chandler

To Dr. [[underlined]] Palmer. Tells me right ear almost cured. But left still pus and deaf. [[/underlined]]
Nina left [[strikethrough]] tod [[/strikethrough]]  this afternoon by train for the North. Celine went with her to station.

To Dr. Palmer 10 A.M

[[underlined]] Left ear still deaf [[/underlined]] - Feel better and stronger, making progress. First light rainfalls and cloudy skies.
[[underlined]] April 19 [[/underlined]] Sudden change in temperature. This morning early 64° but later 70°.

Dr. [[underlined]] Palmer says right ear is in excellent condition. Left ear however not so good [[/underlined]] and still absolutely deaf.

[[underlined]] Palmer tells me Jeffrey and he feared my case would have turned into Mastoiditis and felt much relieved. [[/underlined]]
Today first rainfalls, very light

This afternoon felt so well that I went out on ION in Bay, under sail and power

[[underlined]] Dr. Palmer tells me left ear drum is closing and must again be perforated. [[/underlined]] So I had to go again thru this operation; for the [[underlined]] third time [[/underlined]] Hope it will be the last. All this is very depressing.

[[underlined]] Dr. Palmer examined the left ear. - No pain. Says may have to bore again if ear drum closes, but says this is quickly and easily done. [[/underlined]]
Feel much better and active. Beautiful weather again [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] Drove Motor car around the garden. First time since I became ill.
[[left margin]] Registered for election at Coconut Grove office. [[/left margin]]

[[underlined]] Left ear, still suppurates [[/underlined]] and no sign of hearing
[[underlined]] April 24. [[/underlined]] Same condition. Andrew took ION to boat-yard for hull scraping. Afternoon Henry & Mrs. Howard visited with British Naval officer in charge of Bahama lighthouse service. War talk is diminishing considerably.
