To Dr. Palmer, same condition. Evening paid visit to Fairchild who was asked by the widow of Boyce Thompson to bring me along to take supper on her million Dollar Yacht which is now in Miami. - Which a declined. Also short visit to Dr. Jeffrey who will stay here all summer
[[underlined]] May 16. [[/underlined]] Mailed check for 178 61/100 to City comptroller of Yonkers protesting [[strikethrough]] it [[/strikethrough]] my real estate there being assessed too high. Also for not mailing me this bill too late instead of before May 1
[[underlined]] May 17. [[/underlined]] Went out on ION with Murray and Row, to Soldier Key. Left harbour at 8:50 A.M

Moderate easterly breeze. Went under engine and sails. Making average 7 Knots. Back in harbour 12:45 P.M. Afternoon went to visit Fairchild. This little boat trip and no medical examination have done me much good. Went ashore to visit the beautiful estate being built on the largest of the Ragged Key, with artificial well built harbor, and a huge white Light House whence the waters of the far [[strikethrough]] neighborho [[/strikethrough]] and wide can be seen. [[strikethrough]] Lef [[/strikethrough]] Caught a small shark. Left the [[strikethrough]] tow [[/strikethrough]] lighthouse-tower at 4:10 P.M using sails & power. Everything ran like clockwork.  Andrew reports average 8¼ Knots. Back in our harbour at 5:45 P.M.

This morning Dr. Palmer announces my left ear is showing improvement.
