on final decision until tomorrow when George Baekeland will meet the men of Am. Cyanamid Co for final decision.  All members of the board of directors were there except Redman and Karpen. [[strikethrough]] Also [[/strikethrough]] Holmgren and Horn who have carried the work [[strikethrough]] af [[/strikethrough]] of book-values and earnings of Bakelite - Cyanamid and Carbon also present in discussion.  Tomorrow will be a decisive day.
[[underlined]] July 28. [[/underlined]]  Special meeting to hear report about visit to Cyanamide.  George came back that Cyanamid has changed their mind, instigated by one or two men, who seem to be in control.  After his verbal record; we held a meeting and unanimously declared in favor of Union Carbide consolidation. - Feel glad now we have not joined Cyanamid Co.  specially hearing their credit is not so good as that of Carbide, and that they have outside obligation of a financial nature.  We then discussed the legal method proceedings along which we had to carry out the consolidation, - aided by advice of outside lawyers, as well as our

There was no discordance of views nor purposes, nor any act contrary to present legislative rules, concerning consolidation.  We all feel very happy, and I in particular, at the thought that I shall soon be able to resign the Presidency of Bakelite in favor of George as my successor.  The consolidation will also be in favor of our many employes who will be treated in the same liberal way as the Union Carbide men, in pension fund, and profit sharing etc.
Feel very elated and went to visit the World Fair.  A hot sultry day. - Visited Eastman Kodak exhibit, marvelous enlarged [[strikethrough]] ph [[/strikethrough]] color photos very striking.  Luncheon at Belgian Pavillon Restaurant, where nobody knew me.  Then Australia, Bakelite Johns Mandeville (Asbestos & building materials)
