Celine went to Nina's to meet some of the children at noon. I spent the day, indexing my notebooks, thus living over again past happenings. - Still bad news from the war in Europe which is growing more attrocious by sinking of vessels and mines. Large part of the day devoted to read a long letter of [[underline]] 8 [[/underline]] big pages in small handwriting from Brooksie. An admirable letter, very interesting in which he describes the past, present and probable future of India. The boy has grown into a real man. His comments are striking. - I can hardly imagine how he has developed during the last year. - while I am still thinking of "little" Brooksie, a [[underline]] man [[/underline]] has grown. 
[[underline]] Nov 25 [[/underline]] Quiet day at home. Celine went for dinner at Nina's. - Evening pleasant talk about past, present and hope of the future. Dickie has become a thrifty housewife, with limited financial means the war having done much harm to her husbands business. But both of them seem courageous and cheerful 
[[underline]] Nov 26 [[/underline]] (Sunday) Everyday had war news. The Germans using every trick to kill England, while leaving the French rather untouched. Meantime airplanes and skip-explosions continue their damage Shame to humanity and civilisation
