[[underline]] Sunday [[/underline]] Feb. 18. - Intermittent sun-shine. Home all day. [[red underline]] H.G. Wells the renowned English writer [[/red underline]] comes out in a new book in which he [[red underline]] reproaches Britain of tolerating the ultraconservative system, where lords and bishops etc. still rule above the people by their backward [[/red underline]] methods.

Left my harbor at 9.A.M. arrived at Hacienda Dock 40 minutes later. - Were all alone except the darkies and Charley(?) who were already boiling the [[red underline]] traditional clam chowder [[/red underline]] in the bush. Weather turned brighter and not so cold. - As guests, had besides our own family, had as guests [[red and black underline]]  Cecil Roberts famous english writer [[/red and black underline]] and 2 of his friends. Large number of boats and sunny afternoon. [[red underline]] Dickie & Hessert [[/red underline]] as passengers on ION Hessert has caught cold.

[[/underline]] [[strikethrough]] Wrote [[/strikethrough]] Signed long [[red underline]] affidavit describing Dr. Hans Lebach as distinguished chemist [[/red underline]] and man of excellent qualities for citizenship, as requested by his lawyer, who is [[red underline]] trying to prevent him of being refused residence in the U.S. [[/red underline]] on account of being entered here for a limited time; after his expulsion from Germany, as a jew.
