received a typewritten copy of a [[red underline]] letter Brooksie had written to Pope and which irritated George so [[/red underline]] much. - I think George was unfair as this letter was simply a description of his life in India. It covered several pages and was very interesting and ^[[so]] well written that [[red underline]] George instead of being irritated ought to feel very proud of his son. [[/red underline]] 
April 19. - Received news that [[red underline]] Brooksie has arrived in New York [[/red underline]] port and seems in good health 
[[underline]] April 20. [[/underline]] Strong Westerly wind and temp. 80°F
Made a [[red underline]] round trip in motor car with Andrew along Miami Beach district. [[/red underline]] -

Allen]] about what I have to do as lecture for coming [[red underline]] award of Franklin Medal [[/red underline]] Celine has left for the North but forgot her paintings. Will express them tomorrow

[[vertical note in left margin in red]] Duff-Cooper in London [[/vertical note in left margin in red]] [[red underline]] Duff-Cooper of Britain [[/red underline]] made a long and energetic speech [[strikethrough]] by [[/strikethrough]] in England and transmitted by Radio. 
The [[red underline]] New York Times [[/red underline]] published a long report about coming festivities at Franklin Institute. The list is very long but, to my astonishment [[red underline]] my name is at the head of the list with Dr. Compton Nobel Prize [[/red underline]] of Chicago University, while a long list of other distinguished scientists and engineers.

I see now what Dr. Allen wanted from me: namely that I [[strikethrough]] should [[/strikethrough]] and Dr. Compton should each make a short speech on receiving our medals, we being the only ones among the recipients and our speech should not exceed 10 minutes.
