The N.Y Worlds' Fair is now closed [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] buildings and exhibits being scrapped. so as to make the whole place a modern public park.
Political struggles going on between Roosevelt  and Willike. [[sic - Wendell Willkie]] - Thus far their [[strikethrough]]votes[[/strikethrough]] calculated votes run close. 
The "Roosevelt New Dealer partisans are using many dirty tricks.

Have sent to H.E. Howe one of the big volumes of the International Berlin meetings 1903 in Berlin and in which he will find my address describing how I devised "[[underline]] Air conditioning" [[/underline]] for the manufacture of photographic papers at the Nepera Chemical Co, then situated at Nepera Park, until I sold out to Eastman. I listened to the political broadcast of President Roosevelt over the phone. - His speech which was spread over the whole U.S. and probably in foreign countries, containe the same platitudes and half-truths which he handles so cleverly. - His opponent, Willike, is taking a rest to regain his full voice. - It looks as if we were to get Roosevelt as a [[strikethrough]] thrid t [[/strikethrough]] third term and all that is implies, plus still greater arrogance of Roosevelt. [[underline]] November 2 [[/underline]] . Went to an excellent movie in Yonkers. This evening listened to an overwhelming reunion for Willeke at Madison Square garden, filled to the limit and great enthusiasm [[in left margin]] 187.558 [[/left margin]] Celine and myself listened to past midnight [[underline]] November [[/underline]] 3. Accompanied Celine to Philadelphia R.R. central. - She is leaving to vote for Willeke in Florida. I do not feel well enough to accompany her to Miami [[underline]] November 4 [[/underline]] . This morning received a printed letter from Ghent announcing the death of my brother in-law Professor Freideric Swarts. - He has been ill for a long time since his valuable and courageous researches on Fluor and its organic compounds. - The privations of this war have hastened his death.
