Received letter from Rachel and Celine's sister that they have received the funds we sent them through our Fifth Ave Bank - this is good news we have hoped for.
[[underline]] Feb 6. [[/underline]]  Begin to handle the new car well, without any help 1914 
[[underline]] Feb 7. [[/underline]] More motor car exercise and feel at home in my new excellent car.

Great day for the opening of the new Fairchild Garden which has been created by his generous and intelligent friend ? [[blank space]]             Beautiful weather and beautiful new garden with plants, trees and flowers and green lawns. Looks like Magic that such a garden which until last year looked like a wild carelessly kept bush 
Fairchild lectured at 10:30 A.M then after luncheon again at 3:15 P.M Very well attended; every seat filled and excellent speeches and lectures. Mrs. Fairchild also gave a very interesting recital of some of their experiences [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] in the Mollucas. A most enjoyable and instructive meeting. - [[underline]] Celine at her best [[/underline]] 1941 [[underline]] Feb 12 [[/underline]] Sent my check for $100 to Colonel ? for the Fairchild Garden on Feb 13. 1941 [[underline]] Feb. 9 [[/underline]] (Sunday) Did not go at the "Cocktail Party" as given this evening at the Club. - Nothing pleasant in meeting some drunken people.
