March 13, 1941
This morning sent my [[strikethrough]] tax [[/strikethrough]] federal ^[[Income]] Tax Report to Washington, after my signature was endorsed by local notary public in offices of 
Celine is out giving a dinner to all the ladies who have invited her while here.
Went to Coast Guard with Paul Schmidek. There were pleasantly given attention by the men in charge. 
To my great delight was told by them that Commander von Paulson, is not dead as I had been told, but his wife is dead and he has remarried and ^[[he]] is now in charge of the navigation survey. 
One of the men I met at the coast guard offices is the son of Professor Ornsdorff now deceased, but who was the author of the book on chemistry, while he was professor at Cornel University
All in all a very pleasant meeting
We went to Miami to buy copy of U.S Navigation book, and charts thereto.
This evening a visit from Judge Ritter
[[underlined]] March 14. [[/underlined]] Sent a telegram of condolence to Dr. Redman about dead of his wife
Bright weather but windy & low Temp. 60°F

March 15. - Drove to Coral Gables to visit my friend R.W. Richardson, but could not locate his house in this cobweb of streets, boulevards, and houses of endless various names. - So returned home without finding him. 
[[underlined]] March 16. [[/underlined]] Sunday. Beautiful weather. At home all day
[[underlined]] March 17. [[/underlined]] At 1 P.M at office of Dr. Samuel Misner.
[[vertical note in right margin]] X Pulled out my lower left molar. - Felt no pain [[/note in right margin]]
Tells me he [[strikethrough]] will [[/strikethrough]] shall have to make me an additional set of teeth and made engagement for March 21 at 2 P.M. - This afternoon went to Dr. Fairchild
[[underlined]] March 18. [[/underlined]] Took out ION with Paul and Rowl. South of Biscayne B. to try them out. Everything O.K. engine worked perfectly, wind aft. [[Ink smudge]] went to near the Arsenicker Keys and returned. - Wind strongly against us and much spray. - Excellent opportunity to try the ION. About 4 P.M. were back in my Yacht basin, Paul directing.
Celine and myself went to visit Prof.  and his family on [[overwritten]] their [[/overwritten]] the anniversary of his mother. 
[[underlined]] March 19. [[/underlined]] On driving the Ford Motor car, noticed a very [[strikethrough]] lowd [[/strikethrough]] loud shriek of the horn. An electric wire leading to the horn had become short-circuited.
