It took us a long time to find the cause. The short circuit was due to the electric wire in the staff of the steering wheel of which the insulation had become bare.

Harrison [[/underline]] and his wife. - Very interesting discussion between Celine, myself and the Harrison's in relating to present topsy turvy situation of mankind its wars etc. here and abroad.
[[underline]] March 21. [[/underline]] Rain all night and still this morning. Went to Dentist at 2 P.M. He cleaned my teeth and put temporary padding on upper teeth.

Received here a voluminous written typewritten description of my career as professor and inventor by a Miss Edna Yost, which she submits me for correction. Celine and I went over it and afterwards mailed her writings back to her by Air-Mail - which she had sent together with stamps for air-mail. All this was unexpected.
Went to Coconut Grove Theater with Celine to-night. Violent rain and thunder to night.

Sunday March 23
Bright and warm today. More bad news from the war. Spent the morning studying Navigation charts on the ION, when all our men are not disturbing me

Went to Dr. Mismer ^[[Misner]] for examination of my teeth. He advises setting in an entire gold outfit adapted to present and future conditions of my teeth. His phone is 3-2425. Drove to Fairchild public garden, where this morning from 11 to 1, plants are sold or given away to visitors, members of the Garden Club.
This afternoon [[strikethrough]] drove to v [[/strikethrough]] went to Soldier Key. Excellent weather. Saw the numerous slotted boxes in which the men of Soldier Key are keeping a wonderful collection of live fishes including fishes of many beautiful colors and well as large sharks. - The men there are all browned by the sun and some seem well informed about fishes. All they want is cooperation from Miami University of some other institution or men who could give them a subsidy or support in their work.
