Paul immediately undid the brass [[strikethrough]] stearin [[/strikethrough]] steering gear and took it to a mechanician who repaired and improved it, so as to prevent repetition of such damage.

Further bad war news from Jugo-Slavia. Greeks who hitherto have advanced steadily now retreat.

I believe [[strikethrough]] Lis [[/strikethrough]] Lindberg is right. - So do many others
[[underlined]] April 18. [[/underlined]] Beautiful weather; went out in dinghy. - Then later on ION to the Mathison Islands, Paul steering and Rowl helping. Went walking around the estate but met nobody but 2 men in charge of the Arabian building. - Perfect weather. The new steering gear worked perfectly.
Got a letter from [[blank space]] of the British Bakelite Co. - His letter is cheerful and contains no complaints as to the harsh treatment from the enemy.
[[underlined]] April 19. [[/underlined]] Beautiful weather. Got up early and drove around the southerly plantations, woods and roads, for about 2 [[strikethrough]] mant [[/strikethrough]] hours. - Very pleasant excursion. Met very few men. - Bought some enormous water melons larger than I ever saw. Last year they all were frozen. 
Paul is out with wife, little daughter and watch full dog.
Afternoon took ION to Key Biscayne. Celine and Mrs. Fairchild as a guest. - Took Rowl (darky) along to help Paul. - Perfect weather. Were well received by negros in charge. One white caretaker, took us around
