[[underlined]] June 23. [[/underlined]] Fine weather. U.S. Government has stopped sending money to Finnland since the news reached today that the Finns have joined the Soviet!
Dick drove me to the Bakelite plant at [[blank space]]. I had not announced my arrival but found every department very busy with its various problems.
Dr. L. H. Bender took me around and introduced me to every one and explained intelligently the details of each problem and its aims. I was under the impression that the old plant was slowly deteriorating. But to my great pleasure I found exactly the contrary. The departments better kept than ever before and new additions and improvements.
Furthermore, every nook and

corner utilised at its best and no longer dirty as happened in the past. - Some of our new men have been entrusted with new important problems.
Someway or another did not know I was making this inspection and found us when I was nearly through. The noon hour for luncheon had arrived and it was a great pleasure to see what a fine lot of men and women were working for Bakelite. Dick drove me back to Yonkers so that altho 2 P.M. I still could enjoy my lunch.
Celine's improvement of health continues to improve much every day.
