Found George at the office who for some way or another seemed somewhat impatient and rather curt in his attitude. - I hope I was mistaken. At noon went to University Club for luncheon and met many old friends I had not seen since a long time. - Clear pleasant weather.
The Mother of Franklin D. Roosevelt died yesterday.

My dear friend and distinguished chemist Dr. Thomas Midgley Jr who a few weeks ago was stricken by infantile paralysis is now moving about in a push chair. With his usual energy and enterprise he is now participating at the meeting of the American Chemical Society now assembled at Atlantic City
