Prof Hixson yesterday told me that A. Cressy Morrison, who wrote the book: "Man in a Chemical World in 1937 was of the staff of Union Carbide Co and recently retired.
October 1. Long talk with [[strikethrough]] a [[/strikethrough]] one of the ^[[principal]] heads of Union Carbide. who with Townsend wanted us so much to join Union Carbide. Long talk on the subject at the University Club.
He tells me, contrary to George's opinion, that I should visit him often so as to have a chat about pending matters.

Oct. 2. Cool weather. - Still no rain. Returning to Snug Rock I found Georges wife with Celine. She seems very happy and intelligent and courageous and skilled enough to leave this evening for their home in Connecticut. She is an excellent auto - driver and drives herself all alone and seems well fit for it
[[underlined]] Oct 3. [[/underlined]] Horrible cloudy weather a real big fog, difficult to see anything beyond fifteen feet or less. So remained at Snug Rock., while Dick drove her to New York in this thick fog. Have sent $5 [[underlined]] 00 [[/underlined]] as membership to "The American Institute" This morning found that 2 of my lamps had short, [[strikethrough]] circuted [[/strikethrough]] circuted, probably the wiring in the wall caused it. So went to purchase some wiring and connections at the 10 cent store. in Yonkers.
