We spoke of the past the present and the future. And how many years ago Townsend and Barret, made me many inducements and oportunities for joining Union Carbide. - All

this was very interesting to both of us. Specially now since their factories and capacities had increased so much. All in all it was a very pleasant visit. consolidating our new partnership.
Went to University Club for lunch. Later on when about to take the train for Yonkers, spent about one hour at the Chemists Club, where I met many friends I had not seen since long ago, The war in Europe is going on as strenously as heretofore fore. When will it end and [[strikethrough]] hope [[/strikethrough]] how. - and are we to get into a war with Japan, totally unnecessary. But dictated by some of Roosevelt's entourage who seem to be hungry for such a war, as long as they do not have to shoulder the fight, and the miseries.
Celine spent quite sometime with Dickie, while D. husband had to attend to his business
