The Tower helps much to keep the rainfal out of the house. At about 3 hours, the rain ceases. Some of the trees of the old and distinguised "Tilden Estate" have broken down by the storm. The "old Tilden Estate, has some of its big trees destroyed (The Tilden Estate old as it stands there, has seen many such storms while trees and towers seem as solid as ever, since the days they were built to guard against the dirty politicians, against whom Tilden had to fight.
(For information on this subject the public library at 42d street, contains many information books on the history of Tilden.

At Snug Rock August 24 - 1942
A beautiful clear day as we have had many this season. Celine, George, the children and guests are still all at the Adirondacks and seem to enjoy it.
I went to our office to send a letter to the "Hooker Electro-chemical" [[strikethrough]] at [[/strikethrough]] Niagara Falls, where with Townsend and others we spent our best efforts to improve the Townsend Cell by electrolysis. Many of those man, have died since. But the [[strikethrough]] newe [[/strikethrough]] newer generation, have succeeded in making good progress and just now sent me an interesting anniversary issue of their pamphlet, showed the great progress they have made.
I wrote them a compliment for their work and progress; which I dictated at the Bakelite office. George and Miss Bidwell are on vacation but the other typewriter lady, cheerfully, typed my letter
